(New York) - Ever evolving, the voice over industry reached a significant milestone here Sunday night with presentations of the 1st Annual Voice Arts™ Awards, honoring and celebrating best work and achievements in voice over talent, production and other aspects of the voice over business.

Legendary and prolific audiobook narrator Scott Brick and top-tier voice talent Joe Cipriano (pictured, Brick left) were among dozens of award winners at the gala reception and ceremony at the Museum of the Moving Image, attended by media and entertainment celebrities and executives, producers, audiobook publishers, agents, trainers and voice actors - both "big name" talents and those enroute to great success.

The awards are the creation of the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS), a non-profit organization that is also presenting the 5th Annual That's Voiceover Career Expo here today.

At the awards ceremony, SOVAS CEO Rudy Gaskins (pictured) and Executive Director Steve Ulrich pledged that the awards will continue as an annual competition. Many awards presenters and recipients praised Gaskins and SOVAS board member Joan Baker for their vision and work in creating SOVAS and the awards program.

Celebrities doted the gala's awards stage and audience.

CNN anchor Don Lemon presented the Voice Arts™ Icon Award for lifetime achievement to James Earl Jones for the legendary talent's incomparable voice overs - from Sesame Street to Darth Vader to "This is CNN" and beyond. Jones is currently on Broadway heading the zany family in "You Can't Take It With You," and his cast cheered from the ceremony audience.

ABC's John Quinones (host of "What Would You Do?") announced several awards, including - in Spanish - the Outstanding Spanish Language Voice Over (won by Luis Garcia).

Also opening the winners' envelopes on stage were well-known voice over industry personalities including Joe Cipriano, Pat Fraley, Cedering Fox, Scott Brick, Marc Graue, Joan Baker and Chuck Duran and Stacey Aswad (pictured).
