VOICEOVERXTRA
See Something New? VoiceOverXtra
Has
New Face, Features And Navigation

March 22, 2012

By John Florian
VoiceOverXtra

(VOXtra) Looking for VoiceOverXtra? Well - you're here. We just look different today.

At about 4:30 p.m. Eastern, I emailed Ray and Brian at Quasar Enterprises, my web developer and host: "Ready to launch!" And many months of ideas, designs, tweaking and linking entered computer screens worldwide.

This brought memories of the July day in 2007 when I told them to "Flip the switch" (which is how much I knew about websites then), and VoiceOverXtra itself was born.

Now nearly five years later, the big challenge with a redesign was to consolidate all those years of how-to features, news, directories, and more into pages that you will find graphically pleasing and easy to navigate to quickly find what you want.

Did we succeed?

NAVIGATION AID

Actually, what you see here now is a repackaging of what up to 500 people per weekday visit VoiceOverXtra to find - how-to info for succeeding in voice over. And we share this info in many ways.

Take a quick tour with me ...

On the gray and red menu bars above, you see links to popular pages like our:
  • comprehensive industry Directories (you've checked it out, haven't you?),
  • Calendar of wonderful training events,
  • Classifieds (hey, they're FREE to subscribers!),
  • a place to SHOP online for voice over equipment,
  • a special section for voice over Newcomers, and more.
On the Home Page, below the menu are these main sections:
  • News & Features, where you find the most recent articles in Business & Marketing, Home Studio, Industry News, and Voice Acting, plus links to complete archives;
  • Training, with links to VoiceOverXtra's upcoming webinar and workshop opportunities, plus a preview of our upcoming eBook, Voice Over LEGAL, by voice actor / attorney Rob Sciglimpagia;
  • Resources, with links to blogs, award competitions, social media sites, pronunciation guides, sample demos, wacky stuff and more; and finally,
  • Poll - vote your opinion on topics that will change often. Followed by text and banner ads from among the best professionals in this business. Please do click and check them out.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

As with anything new, there may be a bug or two lurking in these links. I'll stomp 'em as we go along - but will also appreciate a note from you if you catch any in your exploration of these hundreds of articles and departments.

And please feel free to comment below (or privately, to info@VoiceOverXtra.com) about this new look.

Believe me: I greatly value your ever-lasting friendship and help over the years, and feel honored to continue serving you.

To Your Success!
John

John...great job! Your site was fine before and now just better than ever! IMHO, You are the leader in providing information and education to the world of VO. Remember the recent interview with Joe Cipriano? Paraphrasing, he said, "stick to your goals no matter what". You obviously took his advice and did a great job! Keep up the terrific work!

It looks terrific, John! Felicidades. You must be so pleased. I have the same request as Peter. I actually often print your articles so I can read them more leisurely because my eyes are fried from reading on the computer all day long, so would love a way to save an article formatted for print, to exclude all the logos, etc.

Thanks for all the work you put into this. It makes your site even more inviting and is far easier to navigate. Wonderful!

Warm regards,
Rosi

Looks nice, it's easier to read! One request for a feature, I'd like a way to save an article formatted for print. I wouldn't actually print them, just save them as PDF for later reference, but using the browser's print function includes the navigation elements, links to other articles, ads, etc.
