Voice Acting In Africa: Make Connections And
Learn With The Voice Actors League Of Africa
January 30, 2025

(VOXtra) - The voice over community is known for its caring and sharing attitude among colleagues. Advice and support abounds from professionals who are eager to help their peers succeed.

By the way, we’re talking here about a growing voice over community in Africa. And in particular, the relatively new Voice Actors League of Africa (VALA).

“Our vision is to develop independent freelance voice actors who can manage their businesses effectively,” explains VALA co-founder Jennifer Kanari.

VoiceOverXtra recently enjoyed an enlightening online chat with Jennifer, who is also a popular international voice talent, casting agent, and winner of the One Voice Conference USA 2024 award for Best International Overall Voice Over Performance (International Voices Only).

Voicing in Kenya from both the capital city of Nairobi and a seacoast village, Jennifer (pictured) was also co-founder of the Voice Actors League of Kenya (VALK) in 2013, which last year expanded to serve voice talent throughout Africa as VALA.

And she has much to share in the video conversation below, including:

  • The “seasons” of her career (discovering voice over and its international “waters,” coaching, casting, co-founding VALK and VALA),
  • Voice acting in Africa (genres, rates, coaching), and of course,
  • How VALA helps voice talent in Africa (professional and investing education, mentorship, connections).

Plus, you receive an invitation to visit Africa!

Say hello to Jennifer …
