VO PEOPLE
'Outspoken' Voice Over Agent-Voice Actor
Erik Sheppard Starts YouTube Q&A Series

May 26, 2017

(VOXtra) - The voice over business is changing so rapidly and so drastically that longtime VO pro and agent Erik Sheppard feels compelled to jump in to explain what he's seeing - and advise on how to cope.

Sheppard, owner and head agent of Voice Talent Productions - a popular global talent agency for union and non-union voice actors - is also widely remembered for sponsoring annual holiday season parties in New York (even proposing to wife Lindsay there!)

Those who know Erik know he's not one to hold back on opinions, so his new YouTube channel of voice over Q&A videos is appropriately named The Outspoken. In each episode, he talks about the VO business and answers viewers' questions.

"I am really deeply concerned about the industry and the changes I have been seeing lately," he says. "One of the best ways I can think of to try to combat these issues is by sharing information with talent and clients.

"While I plan on doing rants where I'm going off about things I think are important or timely, I try to let the viewers shape the course of the channel and answer their questions directly."

Here's recent Episode 5, which addresses 'sweetening' voice over auditions, voice over resumes, regionalisms, and union opportunities ...

You can subscribe to the The Outspoken series here.

Starting with his first voice over gig at the age of 17, Sheppard has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, as a talent and a coach, and with Voice Talent Productions, he oversees an agency that books thousands of high profile projects per year.

His career, classes, appearances and related projects have been profiled on The Learning Channel and in countless industry blogs, podcasts, publications, social media outlets and now through his YouTube channel The Outspoken.

If it is happening in the world of voice over, chances are Erik is involved.
