Competition For Audiobook Excellence

(VOXtra) - Audiobook stars shined brightly in New York City last night, as the Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced winners of the 2025 Audie Awards®  competition - the premier awards program in the United States recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment - at a Gala at Pier 60.

My Name Is Barbra - written and narrated by Barbra Streisand, published by Penguin Random House Audio - was named Audiobook of the Year.

Julia Whelan (pictured right) won the Best Fiction Narrator award for her narration of The Women, written by Kristin Hannah, published by Macmillan Audio.

And Justin Vivian Bond (pictured below) was named Best Non-Fiction Narrator for narration of Candy Darling, by Cynthia Carr, published by Macmilan Audio.

When accepting her award for Narration by the AuthorWhoopi Goldberg expressed gratitude to all narrators in the room saying:

"You all should know that I probably have each and every one of you in my phone because I have ten thousand audiobooks. I grew up dyslexic, so hearing things read to me is heaven.”
